Biography

Jori Contee Staten is an extramural support assistant in the Scientific Review Branch within NCATS’ Division of Extramural Activities, where she provides comprehensive administrative support and services to the review chief and NCATS scientific review officers. She also supports and documents scientific peer review meetings, entering details from the review meetings into the Information for Management, Planning, Analysis, and Coordination database and ensuring that the summary statements for each meeting are formatted correctly. Her administrative, professional and technical expertise contribute to the proficient overall operation of the division.

Prior to joining NCATS in November 2021, Staten served for a year and a half as a management support assistant at the Internal Revenue Service, Department of the Treasury’s Income Tax and Accounting division, where she input payroll data; entered case time for the attorneys; and assisted with assigning, opening and closing cases in the Counsel Automated Systems Environment Management Information System database. She performed all internal administrative duties for two branches and their branch chiefs. She also ran inventory and individual case reports for each attorney with the group that she assisted and retrieved and organized information and documents to assist with all the support activities performed in a legal office.

Staten earned her Bachelor of Science in business management from Hampton University.

Professional Interests

Staten enjoys broadening her knowledge of translational science in her capacity within the division. She is fully dedicated to collaborating with NCATS’ scientists and staff in effectively fulfilling the Center’s mission.
