H. Timothy Hsiao manages a portfolio of awards for both the Clinical and Translational Science Awards Program and the Small Business Innovation Research/Technology Transfer. Prior to joining NCATS, Hsiao was a small business innovation specialist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He also served at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, developed a successful proposal that won Department of State seed funding, and leveraged external resources to introduce the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps model to Mexico for science diplomacy and integration of the U.S.–Mexico innovation ecosystem.
In 2017, Hsiao was selected by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Ignite Accelerator to lead a team initiative to advance translational ventures. He has received the NIH Director’s Award and NCATS Director’s Award and holds a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University.
Hsiao's professional interests include innovation policy, public-private partnerships and technology commercialization.
