Enrique S. Lagos

Biography

Enrique Lagos is a communications specialist in the Communications Branch of NCATS’ Office of Policy, Communications and Education (OPCE), where he serves as the branch liaison for NCATS-wide initiatives regarding diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility; leads communications activities regarding the center’s small business development programs; and coordinates event promotion via several online communications platforms. Prior to joining OPCE, Lagos served as an executive assistant to the NCATS director, providing administrative and program support. He joined NCATS in January 2017 as a program specialist in the center’s Division of Preclinical Innovation (DPI). In that capacity, he provided support for the Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases program within DPI’s Therapeutic Development Branch.

Lagos has a diverse professional background, having held previous positions in both the public and private sector. He has extensive experience in marketing communications, small business development, C-suite administrative management and staffing and recruiting.

Lagos holds a Bachelor’s degree in communications, and Master’s degrees in marketing and business administration from the University of Maryland University College. He has received four NCATS Director’s Awards and two service awards during his time with NCATS.

Professional Interests

Lagos is inspired by the innovative and collaborative work environment that defines NCATS’ culture. The center’s extensive portfolio of programs and the brilliant medical scientists that lead them further motivate Lagos to appreciate the work NCATS’ staff are accomplishing every day to advance disease therapeutics through the application of translational science.
