Biography

Julianna Romaniuk serves as a staff assistant in the NCATS Office of the Director (OD). In that capacity, she provides administrative support to the executive officer and other senior staff members in the OD. Romaniuk provides dual administrative support, assisting OD senior advisors, as well as Drug Development Partnership program officers, managers and analysts. She also serves as a liaison between document-management staff and NCATS administrative staff. Romaniuk came to NCATS in June 2017 as a staff assistant in the Office of Administrative Management, where she worked on a variety of special projects. In addition, she assisted with database management for the Office of Strategic Alliances.

Romaniuk earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism with a concentration in women’s studies from the University of Maryland, Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Prior to joining NCATS, she worked as a social media strategist at a global advocacy organization that fights extreme poverty and preventable diseases, particularly in Africa, curating content for its media outlets.

Romaniuk received two NCATS 2019 Director’s Awards in the “Unsung Hero” category and a group award in the “Collaborator” category for expert coordination and thoughtful planning of the “Opioid Crisis and the Future of Addiction and Pain Therapeutics: Opportunities, Tools, and Technologies Symposium.”
