Biography

Jennie Conroy is a program director in the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program Branch, Initiatives & Consortium-Wide Activities Section, within NCATS’ Division of Clinical Innovation, where she manages a portfolio of CTSA Program grants. Prior to joining NCATS, she was a program official in the Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP), Division of Comparative Medicine, within the NIH Office of the Director, where she oversaw the Chimpanzee Management Program as a contracting officer’s representative and managed research training for the Division’s T32 and T35 programs. Prior to her tenure at ORIP, Dr. Conroy served as a science officer at the Department of Defense within the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, where she oversaw a vast portfolio of pain- and other neuroscience-related topics. Subsequently, she served as a program official managing a portfolio of gynecologic pain grants at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

Dr. Conroy earned her Bachelor of Science in molecular psychobiology from Binghamton University and her doctorate in neuroscience and pharmacology from Albany Medical College in New York. Her thesis focused on the role of intraneuronal cytochrome P450s in morphine-induced antinociception in rodents. She conducted postdoctoral studies within the Molecular Neuropharmacology Section at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, working to discover allosteric modulators of the dopamine receptors.

Professional Interests

Dr. Conroy enjoys all aspects of translational science, with a particular interest in neuroscience and drug discovery. She is dedicated to fully supporting the Center’s mission.
