Biography
Gloria F. Velez is a chief in the Grants Management Branch, Compliance Section, within the NCATS Division of Extramural Activities, where she manages an innovative, complex award portfolio for the NCATS Biomedical Data Translator program and supports NIH Other Transaction Authority (OTA) initiatives. She also serves as a compliance specialist, participating in the development of NCATS’ standard operating procedures for grants, cooperative agreements and OTA awards, as well as funding opportunities and internal/external policies. Velez also performs data analytics to identify trends and efficiencies to support the development of resources and tools for office use.
Before joining NCATS in December 2011, Velez served as a program specialist for the deputy director of the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) from 2008 to 2010, prior to transitioning to a grants management specialist in NCRR’s Scientific Review Branch.
Velez holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Maryland University College in College Park, Maryland.
