Biography

Bekah E. Geiger. M.S.W., is the acting associate director for administration and acting executive officer in NCATS’ Office of Administrative Management (OAM). As the acting executive officer, she provides leadership and direction for a wide array of the center’s administrative management activities. These areas include financial management, general administration, information technology and management analysis. She also is the center’s deputy ethics counselor. In this role, she oversees NCATS’ ethics program. This program advises and counsels NCATS staff on financial disclosure, official duty activities, outside activities and all topics relevant to the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch.

Geiger was named OAM’s deputy executive officer in 2022. Before that, she served as the chief of NCATS’ Ethics and Management Analysis Branch of OAM. She also spent almost nine years at the NIH Clinical Center, where she held many roles, including chief of the Office of Management, Planning and Public Liaison and general manager of the Edmond J. Safra Family Lodge.

Geiger was an NIH at-large Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) from 2006 to 2008. As a PMF, she rotated through a range of offices, enriching and expanding her knowledge of NIH and specific institutes and centers. In 2006, Geiger earned her M.S.W. from the University of Michigan, with a focus on health and concentrations in management of human services and in social policy and evaluation.

Professional Interests

Geiger enjoys analyzing the impact and implementation of administrative policies in the context of biomedical research. She fully supports NCATS staff in fulfilling the center’s mission. Geiger enjoys informally and formally mentoring staff in various administrative functions. She has served on the NIH Administrative Training Committee, and she led the PMF subcommittee from 2015 to 2019.
