Biography

Prachi K. Patel, a communications consultant in NCATS' Office of Policy, Communications and Education, supports the Communications Branch in developing communications campaigns. Patel focuses on conceptualizing and developing strategic communications initiatives to help build awareness among a range of stakeholders about translational science and the key role NCATS plays as a leader and partner. She also will be helping to create a communications road map to promote the 10-year anniversary of the Center.

In her broader capacity at NIH, Patel concurrently contributes to the All of Us Research Program (in a similar role) and has supported the program via key initiatives, including the national launch and the one-year anniversary symposium.

Patel joined NIH in 2008, working first in the communications branch of the Office of Extramural Research and then at the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. She also has provided communications support to the Office of Public Health at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Office of HIV/AIDS at the U.S. Agency for International Development, where she led communications efforts for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief initiative.

Patel holds a B.S. in mass communications/public relations from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Professional Interests

Patel appreciates the power of identifying common ground among diverse sets of stakeholders to build consensus that can produce measurable impact, and she enjoys employing her oral and written communications skills to achieve that objective.
