Biography
Abir Malik, M.S., is a project manager in the Grants Management Branch (GMB), Compliance Section, within NCATS’ Division of Extramural Activities, where her responsibilities include developing and maintaining policy documents, coordinating administrative aspects of pre- and post-award management, and establishing templates and tools to ensure office-wide consistency. She is responsible for tracking and monitoring compliance with post-award reporting submissions, assisting with the creation of internal and external training material and resources, performing internal grant portfolio audits, and analyzing the data from the audits.
Before coming to GMB, Malik was a scientific program analyst at the Office of Drug Development Partnership Programs, where she provided analytical and administrative support for the Illuminating the Druggable Genome (IDG) program and the Biomedical Data Translator program. The IDG program works to expand scientific knowledge and create information repositories for understudied proteins that could affect health and disease. The Translator program enables exploration of biomedical information to facilitate scientific and translational research. Some of Malik’s responsibilities involved distributing relevant information, collaborating on programmatic reports (e.g., annual progress reports), tracking and documenting milestone progress, conducting grant-related analyses, and organizing hackathons and workshops. Prior to joining NCATS in January 2021, she was a research associate at Meso Scale Diagnostics, where she worked on assay development for high-throughput biodosimetry and extracellular vesicle research.
Malik holds a Master of Science in biotechnology from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and a Bachelor of Science in sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
