Biography

Elia R. Lopez completed her postdoctoral training as a Translational Science Interagency Fellow (TSIF) from 2021 to 2024 under the mentorship of Donald C. Lo, Ph.D., and Bryan Traynor, M.D., Ph.D. (National Center for Advancing Translational Science, National Institutes of Health, NCATS/NIH) and Lois Freed, Ph.D., and James Wild, Ph.D. (United States Food and Drug Administration, FDA). Lopez’s research explored translational approaches to optimize safety and toxicology testing of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) for treatment of rare monogenic diseases.

Lopez earned a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences with a focus in biochemistry and cell biology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
